Hyderabad: After the success of its recent web series, “Gaalivaana”, the ZEE5 platform has embarked on a new web series – a crime thriller titled “Recce”, which will be broadcast from June 17. The first announcement was made recently with the release of an intriguing motion poster.

The series is a captivating thriller set in the 1990s. The story is told over the course of 7 episodes (25 minutes each). Speaking about the premise, director Poluru Krishna said, “The story revolves around a murder. The municipal president of Tadipatri is assassinated and a series of thrilling incidents ensue. The story takes place between a sub-inspector named Lenin and a reconnaissance expert named Paradesi and his team. How they plot the murder of the municipal president of Tadipatri Varadarajulu in 1992 and how Lenin pursues the case against all odds forms the heart of the story.

From the animated poster and premise, it looks like “Recce” will be a roller coaster ride filled with suspenseful drama and thrilling twists. The Rayalaseema backdrop makes it all the more exciting. The notorious aspect of factional violence in Tadipatri seems to have been well explored.

Through movies and other pop culture phenomena, we only know about high-level faction leaders and their murders. “Recce,” however, highlights biting plots and executions behind these bloody incidents. The plot description suggests how the series will be on the edge of the siege. “In the early 1990s in Tadipatri, rookie sub-inspector Lenin is tasked with solving a double murder. Are these killings politically motivated, faction driven, or is there an even darker motive? Lenin’s investigation leads him to uncover some unpleasant secrets.

Sriram and Sivabalaji played roles we have never seen them in before. Anantapur is where the main parts of the series were filmed. The director and other technicians took a realistic approach to the storytelling and execution of the series. As it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a raw and authentic crime drama of rural factions, viewers will surely love the whole premise, backdrop, details, plot turns, and performances.

Dhanya Balakrishna, Saranya Pradeep, Ramaraju, Rajashree Nair, Thotapalli Madhu and others are also in the cast. While the music is by Sriram Maddury, the DoP is Ram K Mahesh.
