Support the night of the novel, which supports the library | Opinion

The Wood County District Public Library Foundation will hold its annual Novel Night Benefit Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans Building in Bowling Green City Park. I am writing to you today to ask for your support for this event.

The evening will be filled with fine drinks, hearty appetizers, live and silent auctions, camaraderie and laughter. You may purchase tickets and/or donate monetary sponsorship of any amount to wcdpl.org/roman-night.

All funds raised from Novel Night go to support the purchase of more new books, large print books, eBooks, audiobooks and picture books for the community to read, learn and enjoy. These private funds are in addition to the dollars budgeted for new books from the library’s operating tax revenue.

We believe Bowling Green, Walbridge and Bookmobile customers deserve to have the largest, latest and strongest collection of books possible to meet reading interests and lifelong learning needs. of our local communities. The more funds we can raise locally, the more copies of popular titles we can have (so the waiting lists are short) and meet the demand for local reading.

A sample of live auction items include:

1. Seven-day, six-night stay at a vacation home in rural Tanzania near Lake Victoria (worth $3,790).

2. Handmade cherry wood side table from salvaged wood from a house built by architects Frank Lloyd Wright in 1957 (worth $400).

Since 2009, the annual Novel Night Benefit has helped ensure that our book collections meet the needs and interests of the community. We are now asking you to give again so that we can keep our shelves filled with books that help your neighbors learn and discover.
