‘Run, Rose, Run’ Dolly Parton’s Novel With James Patterson Debuts at No. 1 on Amazon’s Best Sellers List | WJHL
KNOXVILLE, TN (WATER) – Dolly Parton’s debut novel, “Run, Rose, Run” co-written with best-selling author James Patterson debuted Monday at No. 1 on Amazon’s best-selling books list. The Southern fiction thriller was released just days later her companion album of the same name was released on Friday.
The Amazon Best Sellers list includes the 100 most popular books sold on Amazon.
“Run, Rose, Run” tells the story of a young, up-and-coming singer-songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee, who sings about the difficult life behind her, according to the novel’s synopsis, and “she’s also on the run. Finding a future, losing a past. Nashville is where she came to claim her destiny. It’s also where the darkness she fled could find her. And destroy her.
Parton and Patterson appeared Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and Parton clapped “Yay!” at the news of their co-written novel reaching #1 on Amazon’s list.
“We’re celebrating, man,” Patterson said during the GMA interview.
“Number one – yay!” said Parton.
In addition to offering Patterson compliments for his writing, Parton continued to share during the GMA interview about “Run, Rose, Run” that she saw herself in many characters in the novel and how she bonded with the strong female characters.
The novel is Parton’s first, and her love of books and story-sharing has been a decades-long practice. Parton has often said in interviews and in her 2020 book, “Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics” that songwriting was like telling stories of her time growing up in East Tennessee as well as more. late in her career as she gained new experiences.
Her love of books and sharing them with children through her non-profit organization, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has been an ongoing passion project for the superstar since its launch in 1995 in Sevier County. The non-profit organization then expanded to provide books to children across the country and then internationally. In 2020, the association offered its 150 millionth book.
A virtual book tour for “Run, Rose, Run: A Novel” spear Sunday March 6.
Parton and Ballerini will take the stage at the Academy of Country Music Awards to perform one of the singles from the album “Run, Rose, Run” in Las Vegas. Parton also co-hosts the awards show.
