Lockdown inspired the Whitwell author to write his first novel which catches the eye of a major international agent

Richard C. Bower, the poet laureate of Mansfield Town Football Club, was inspired to write the novel after spending time in his garden during lockdown last year.

The novel, titled An Expedition Around My Garden, has now caught the eye of a major international agent, who worked on the award-winning novel ‘PS I Love you’, which was later translated into a successful film.

Richard said: “Last year, during the pandemic, I started looking at the nature of my garden and its energy from a different angle every day.

Richard’s literary success also includes the inspiring bestsellers ‘Sanctuary’ and ‘Postmodern’, a powerful collection of poetry that captures the stages of his personal journey through grief.

An Expedition Around My Garden is set to be released later this year, and Richard will also perform live at the Whitwell Winter Warmer Festival on March 12.
