Biloxi Lawyer Unveils Second Novel, ‘Squall in the Gulf’

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – Biloxi Lawyer Candace Cox Wheeler presented his second novel, “Squall in the gulfto friends and fans at a coming out party on Saturday.

The celebration at the Biloxi Maritime and Seafood Museum included a ribbon cutting by the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and, of course, personal signatures.

Wheeler set his book in 1929 along the Gulf Coast and in Chicago. This time, the children of some of the main characters from his first book take center stage. She says the set up has made her second venture a little easier.

“Because I already had the main characters, and I decided to try and look at what was going on historically in the 1920s. And, once I figured that out, the characters kind of hooked me. says where to go with it from there,” Wheeler said.

Her first novel in the series,Cradle in the oakis set in 1906. Wheeler says he expects a third book to be set in the 1950s.
