The Illuminati : When you received your characters, did you have to research the books to make your characters?

rohan campbell: I certainly did. Yes, I mean I had read the books. But I guess putting a show in the 80s and how old the books are. I kind of wanted to have a 50s version of the character, which I found in some of the previous books.

Alexander Elliot: I think with Joe it’s been so modernized from the books. He’s really perfect for his 80s era. The books were a really good place to start. But I think the key was really the script and going from there.

Keana Lyn: I think in terms of the female characters on this side, Callie was definitely like one of the friends. It kind of went both ways, you know if she was the real girlfriend. There was some storyline there, but her role in detective work wasn’t as big as it was on the show. I think it was really good, I was able to expand on where it came from and add my own twist to it.

Riley O’Donnell: Yes, some characters don’t really exist in the book. My character the name, exists in the book. But the character is actually a guy (laughs). He’s like that big blond dude! (laugh)

Rohan Campbell: That’s the exact description, right? (laughs) Page four man! (laugh)

Riley O’Donnell: Yeah, it’s cool to be able to create a character next to characters that already existed.

Adam Swain: I think for me, I read a bit about Chet and wanted to keep the gist of it. I wanted to keep the essence of the OG version, but also mix it with the new one. At the end of the day, it’s always a guy who will ride or die with his friends. But also, I think you’ll see in Season 2 that he takes care of himself, which I didn’t fully find in the book. I think that’s a nice new approach that we’re going to explore now.

Christian Perry: Yeah like Adam said, I had to go back and read a bit to get to know the character a bit better. But I also think that between the scripts and my brain (laughs), Phil built the character a bit yeah!

The cast of the Hardy Boys | Wondercon 2022

Besides its detective aspects, the chemistry of the main cast of Season 1 is what made me fall in love with the show. The writers have done a fantastic job developing every prominent cast member, especially the two main leads. With Season 2 further exploring the backstories of some of the main characters, my hype for the second season has intensified. However, I’m more curious how the new characters fit into the plot or storyline of season 2. All episodes of The Hardy Boys Season 2 are now available to stream on Hulu.
